Banquet Golding G306

Banquet Golding G306

Sire: Banquet Duncan D412
Dam: Banquet Lass C219
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Notes: Golding G306 was a big, strong, power bull. He had exceptional thickness and bone. The muscling through his hindquarter was of a type not often found in modern Angus cattle. G306 was our first choice if a female showed any frailness. We have retained semen from two sons.

Banquet Cobee C084

Banquet Cobee C084

Sire: Banquet Xtra Belief X030
Dam: Banquet Katie X033
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Notes: Cobee C084 was a large framed sire with extra length, butt shape and scrotal size. His skin was fine and soft and he shed his coat early. We love these traits in his progeny. C084 was sold to Toora West for $16,000. We have 12 daughters still active in our herd. His sons sold to $20,000.

Banquet Ballis B017

Banquet Ballis B017

Sire: Banquet Time Frame Y135
Dam: Banquet Mavis Y032

Notes: At Banquet we prize consistency - to be included long term in our battery of sires a bull must produce progeny true to a type. We sold 54 sons in our 2011 Sale and 44 sons in 2012 and the level of consistency was exciting. Ballis as an individual, is a bull of choice to be used over heifers. However unlike so most low birth weight bulls he increases the width, depth and muscularity of his progeny. His sire, the record breaking Banquet Time Frame Y135 is a son of the famous Kiwi Dream M41 cow. Ballis has almost bred himself into retirement. His sons E015, E019, F710 and F739 have replaced him. Our sons of B017 have sold to $32,000 and grossed over one million dollars. His daughters are producing a next generation of sires for us. Like H467 and J205.

Banquet Bundy B002

Banquet Bundy B002

Sire: Banquet Xplanation X060
Dam: Black Gold Champagne J031+89
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Notes: Bundy B002 was the X060 son we chose to retain. He was from the old donor Black Gold Champagne J031. His daughters are outstanding. Classic in their phenotype. Long, fine necks, deep, thick bodies and excellent udders. They are highly fertile and maintain condition in harsh seasons. In fact they are copies of Bundy’s flush sister, Champagne C154 who topped our Belles of Banquet female sale at $30,000 to Bannaby Angus.

Banquet Aberdeen A349

Banquet Aberdeen A349

Sire: Banquet Over Limit Y035
Dam: Banquet Vicky X109
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Notes: Aberdeen A349 was used for three joinings before selling at 28 months to Trevor and Teresa Hall for their Quarterway Stud, Tasmania. Over the years his daughters have gained recognition in the Banquet herd. The basics of structure and phenotype ensure they are noticed. Their reliability and the quality of their calves ensure they are remembered. Several A349 daughters have been flushed to retain their attributes at Banquet. We reintroduced A349 as an AI sire for our 2014 joinings. His new generation of daughters will be very valuable.

Banquet Zealful Z021

Banquet Zealful Z021

Sire: Banquet Merlot X135
Dam: Banquet Dream X087
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Click Here to Read Notes >

Notes: Zealful Z021 was a great favourite at Banquet and Raffs. Twice he made the expedition to Raffs in QLD for their joining season. He coped with these transitions with ease. A testament to his doing ability. Although a large framed sire his daughters at Banquet are very similar to the Bundy’s. They have length, depth and volume. The dam of Zealful is another of the outstanding Dream cows. Dream X087 was clearly the best of our Scotch Cap OB45 daughters. She had more of the traits of her highly successful dam, Dream Q34. More frame, more volume and less hair.

Banquet Xplanation X060

Banquet Xplanation X060

Sire: Hingaia 469
Dam: Banquet Dream V104
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Click Here to Read Notes >

Notes: 2004 saw Xplanation X060 burst on the scene. This son of Hingaia 469 achieved the top auction price for an Angus in 2004 at $30,000 to Duck Island. Doesn’t sound much compared to Millah Murrah Kingdom K35 at $150,000, also a 469 son. X060 was widely used in the Angus community and his influence at Banquet was huge. Unfortunately he fell to the DD defect. Now his son Harman H261 is carrying on his work. Daughters of X060 are soft, easy doing cattle with great volume and excellent udders.

Banquet Time Frame Y135

Banquet Time Frame Y135

Sire: Vermilion Dateline 7078
Dam: Banquet Kiwi Dream M41
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Notes: Time Frame Y135 set a new Aust. Record price when he sold to Stephen Handbury, Anvil Angus, for $50,000. The importance of Y135 to Banquet way exceeded his sale price. His daughters are typically moderate, thick and have excellent udders. Dream A250 is a great example of Y135 daughters. A250 produced Duncan D412 who was sold to David Hurley, D412 sired the top price and highest average at our 2013 Sale. Time Frame sired Ballis B017.

Dylemma Radar W42

Dylemma Radar W42

Sire: Brackenfield Radar
Dam: Banquet Kite T59
Pedigree:    >> Click here to View

Notes: Dylemma Radar was purchased as an embryo from Banquet by Graham Nowell. At 12 months we purchased a half share. At the Angus National Sale Radar W42 sold for $40,000 to Future Angus. He has exceptional calving ease and outstanding growth. W42 was 1000kg at 2 years. His actual EMA scans were amazing. His EBV’s have always struggled to reflect his true ability. His progeny are thick; fined skinned and have tremendous do ability. His dam, Kite T59, produced 26 sons averaging $9,600.

Atahua Legacy 29-90

Atahua Legacy 26-90

Sire: Jacs Hudson
Dam: Atahua Quest 544

Notes:  Atahua Legacy set an Australasian Record Price at the 1992 New Zealand Angus National Sale at $155,000 this record is still unbroken after 23 years. We shared in the Aust. semen rights and this started a breeding dynasty at Banquet. Legacy had all the traditional traits of New Zealand cattle, he was strong jawed, powerful headed, deep and thick bodied, exceptional docility and extremely sound in his feet. The difference was Legacy came with scale we had never before witnessed. Used judiciously, this combination of performance and type resulted in a quantum leap at Banquet. When his “P” drop sons entered the market they met instant demand. At Banquet we have used 8 sons and flushed 11 daughters. The progeny of the infiltrate the current pedigrees at Banquet. Atahua Legacy was from an outstanding family. The Quest cows have consistently produced some of the most sort after sires in New Zealand. Including the $120,000 Atahua Westpoint. The only “Quest” cows in Australia are at Banquet. The greatest attribute of Legacy, Westpoint, Hotshot and Top Lad is the honesty, integrity and ability of their breeders, Alan and Colin Dalziel and their families. We appreciate the twenty four years of help and encouragement they have given us.

P.S Just pulled Legacy straws for a Flush. Wonder if he can still work his Magic?

Hingaia 469

Hingaia 469

Notes: At Banquet we have great admiration and appreciation of the New Zealand type of Angus Cattle. Their ability to forage and perform on grass making them highly suitable to our production systems. Generations of New Zealand cattle have been selected for structural soundness and type. We find the longevity of New Zealand blood cattle to be superior. Almost all of the cows at Banquet carry these genes. Hingaia 469 is the perfect example. We have 15 year old daughters still in our herd. We congratulate Ross Thompson of Millah Murrah on recording a new Aust Record price of $150,000 for Kingdom K35. Not many have a vision and belief to use 29 year old genetics. At Banquet we love tested and proven genetics. Currently we are using two sons, two grandsons and a great grandson of Hingaia 469. We have four daughters of 469 in our Donor Team.
